Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is generally short-term, is goal-oriented, and takes a practical approach to problem-solving. The goal is to change the patterns of thinking and behavior that underly client’s difficulties. Basically, our thoughts create and affect our feelings and behaviors to a great extent. We all have errors in our thinking and as we identify these errors, we can replace them with more useful and correct thoughts. CBT is used to help treat a wide range of issues from sleeping difficulties and relationship problems, to drug and alcohol abuse, to anxiety and depression. In fact, CBT has been shown to be as effective as medication for depression, with no side effects! A typical course of CBT runs 5 – 10 months but can be much shorter and tailored to your needs.
